How we do it differently
A pack, not cables
Cable-jumping from another vehicle can push a voltage spike through the ECU on a modern car. A regulated commercial booster pack does not. It is also faster, because nobody has to manoeuvre a second car into position.
We test before we leave
A jump start is a symptom fix. The load test tells you whether the battery is genuinely done, and the alternator check tells you whether it will die again three miles down the road. You get both, free, every call.
Winter is the honest reason
A battery loses around a third of its cranking power near 0°F. Batteries that were merely weak in October fail outright in January across Metro Detroit. If yours is over four years old and tested marginal, we will say so plainly.

How much is a jump start?
From $65 anywhere in our core Metro Detroit service area, including the battery and alternator test. There is no separate call-out fee and no charge for the test — you get the price on the phone before we dispatch.
Will a jump start damage my car?
Not the way we do it. We use a regulated commercial booster pack rather than cables run from another vehicle, which is what protects the ECU and other electronics from a voltage spike. Improper cable jumping is genuinely capable of causing expensive electrical damage on a modern car.
My car started with a jump but died again. What now?
That is almost always one of two things: a battery that can no longer hold a charge, or an alternator that is not recharging it while you drive. Our on-site test distinguishes them in about two minutes. If it is the alternator, the car needs a shop and we will tow it at a discounted rate.
How long should a car battery last in Michigan?
Three to five years is typical here, at the shorter end of the national range. Cold reduces cranking power and the heat cycling of a Michigan summer degrades the plates. If yours is past four years and it has already left you stranded once, replace it before it does it again in February.
