What changes the price: distance, vehicle weight and whether it rolls, difficult access such as a parking deck or a soft shoulder, and severe weather. Anything that would change your quote gets told to you before the work starts, not added to the invoice afterwards.
For reference, Michigan hook-up rates generally run $85 to $135 with mileage on top. If someone quotes far outside that, ask why. Michigan also caps non-consensual tow charges — a tow you did not request is a different situation with different rules.

How much does a tow cost in Metro Detroit?
Light-duty towing starts at $80 for the hook-up, plus mileage. Michigan hook-up rates generally sit between $85 and $135, so $80 is below the bottom of the local market rather than in the middle of it. Because mileage depends entirely on your route, you get one complete total on the phone before we dispatch a truck.
How long does it take a tow truck to arrive?
Our average arrival across Metro Detroit is 30 to 45 minutes, and often 25 to 35 in Detroit, Warren, Dearborn and Southfield. Freeway shoulder calls get moved to the front of the queue because that is the most dangerous place to wait. During snowstorms every operator in the region runs long — we will tell you the real number rather than a comfortable one.

Do I need a membership or a plan?

Can you tow an all-wheel-drive or low-clearance car?
Yes, on a flatbed. Towing an AWD vehicle on a wheel-lift with two wheels on the ground risks destroying the transfer case and centre differential. Tell the dispatcher your make and model and the correct truck is sent the first time.
What payment do you take?
Cash, credit and debit, paid to the driver on completion. You get an itemised receipt showing the hook-up, the mileage and anything else on the invoice — which is what you will need if you are claiming it back from an insurer.
My car was towed without my permission. Can you help?
That is a non-consensual tow and it works differently. Michigan law caps what an operator can charge in that situation, requires that you be allowed to retrieve personal items, and gives you the right to challenge both the tow and the fees in district court. Contact the police department for the jurisdiction where the vehicle was parked to find out which company holds it — we do not operate impound lots.
Do you work with insurance or motor clubs?
We take direct-pay customers first, because those are the calls we can guarantee an arrival time on. If you carry AAA or a manufacturer roadside plan, that provider dispatches its own contracted operator. Some customers call us anyway and submit our itemised receipt for reimbursement — check your policy terms before you do.
What should I do while I wait for the tow truck?
Get off the roadway if you safely can, turn on your hazard lights, and stay in the vehicle with your seatbelt on if you are on a freeway shoulder — standing outside the car is where most roadside injuries happen. If you are in a live traffic lane, call 911 first, then us.
